Went extremely well. We had the pleasure of auditioning some very talented individuals. All were amiable and we look forward to the next one on July 11th.
We especially need Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Johnson, Xiang, Liu, and Jun roles for the second audition.
Until then, we're going to keep on keepin' on.

We have a nice little casting call here: SlateCast.
We have been getting quite a few responses for the younger roles but are dry with the older roles.
We are going to physically post casting calls at universities and theaters throughout the week.
My friends Kody and Dave are going to let us use their studio on Milwaukee and Damen/North for our auditions. Thanks Kody and Dave.
If you'd like to make an IN-KIND DONATION of anything from $20-$50, we would be much obliged. The donation form is downloadable here. Simply fill it out, email it back to otherwiseproduction@gmail.com, and make a check out to The Prairie Soul Company.
Thanks for reading. We'll be in touch.

Casting Call
For:
Other Wise
(A Short Film)
Identity is a hard thing to discover. Aiguo’s story starts after being born in China to Caucasian American parents. He comes to the United States to study at an inner city university. Though he is mugged, pushed to the ground, and at times neglected, Aiguo Johnson learns something no other trip could have taught him…
We are a fun, optimistic, and happy production company. This is a low/no budget film. Talent will receive meals, screen credit, and a valuable experience. This is not a student film; we have a director, producer, cinematographer, editor, and crew that work in the industry. This is a 12 page script and most roles will consist of 1-2 shooting days.

Choo Choo!
THAT is the sound of our figurative production train.
Yan Ding, a journalist major fresh from China met with Ghil and I today. She's a graduate student here at UIC and does translations of research for one of her professors. She has agreed to voluntarily translate the Chinese portions of the script. An appreciated filmlanthropist.
Ghil has a new apartment, a very cozy first floor loft up by Devon and Clark. Not to mention a perfect location for the host family scenes. As far as other locations, we have brainstormed a comfortable amount to scout Saturday. Eddie told me of an interesting classroom at Malcolm X College that he will inquire more about. I am starting to love filmlanthropists.
Casting is going to be a large muddy elephant to wash (did I just invent a phrase?). I am working on an improved casting call sheet that we will use to post at bullitens at UIC, DePaul, Flashpoint, Columbia, Art Institute, Malcolm X, local theatres, and other places where potential actors/actresses may be. Also in our equation is experimentation with the MySpace casting that I have heard several rumors about. We do have a couple very good potential leads already, which is terrific.
The prospectus should be up soon, we are just waiting on one more headshot for our crew biographies. Then you can read (and glance) all about us :)
Still looking to shoot in early August.

First production meeting.
Polished up the script with Ghil and it's in its initial development stages. I will work on translating the script into Mandarin and quasi-Mandarin soon. We are almost done with character bios and will be talking with various casting resources. Location scouting next week and finalizing crew ASAP. I'm really excited for this film and I know it's going to be a lot of fun. More soon, stay tuned!
